- at least BSc degree (or equivalent) in a field of Animal Science, Agriculture, Game Biology and Game Production or Life Sciences.
- In case of not fully acceptable BSc degree, the University may request that additional courses be completed.
- a Grade Point Average (GPA) for the BSc study program which is at least 65% of the maximum scale
- Proven fluency in English, both written and spoken. Applicants from non-Anglophone countries must have a certificate of proficiency in English issued by a recognized language institute (for instance TOEFL, IELTS). Applicants who have completed their BSc (or equivalent) degree studies in program where the language of instruction is English are not required to submit such certificate. The minimum pass scores are 6.0 for the IELTS, 550 for the paper-based Institutional TOEFL and 75 points for the Internet-based TOEFL. Other (national) certificates may also be accepted, if the result is satisfactory.

The university library has a total book stock of about 150.000 volumes, its reference room subscribes to 480 journals, of which over 100 are in foreign language. Students can access the most important publication databases and journals on the numerous computers available in the library.

In double rooms of the student hostel of the university with internet access. Accommodation cost is approx. 90 EUR / month.
