Labyrinth of Paths
01.04.2010.The Pszinapszis, that is, the Budapest Psychology Days, which originally launched as a university lecture series, will open its gates for the 14th time between 9 and 11 April to professionals and lay people interested in psychology.
The mission of the widely acknowledged scientific and cultural event is to promote and popularise psychological culture in society. Its programs, among which we find a number of English language events again this year, are focused around the title Labyrinth of Paths this time, promising no less than an opportunity to find our own path even in this accelerating world with the help of the lecturers. Organisers put high emphasis on healthy living, effective solutions to our problems, and during the time of the event, also on the acquisition of the necessary skills to all these.
The acropolis of self-knowledge
The program series hosted by the beautifully renovated József Attila Cultural Centre of Angyalföld attracts thousands of people, and might deservedly be called the acropolis of self-knowledge with its nearly 40 lectures, 50 workshops, and as many cultural programs to help visitors get closer to their innermost selves. For example, the lecture entitled „A sample of the world of psychology" promises to be a real delicacy, giving an insight into the fields of study of the youngest researchers.
Visitors of the event have already got used to the presence of the select of the profession, and they will be here again this year to guarantee the success of the event. While Gábor Szendi presents operative models of depression to the audience, one of the outstanding representatives of Hungarian psychology, Dr. Emőke Bagdy seeks to answer the question „How could we get happier?". Participants of the lecture can also assess their own level of happiness, moreover, the results they achieve at the lightning test can also be compared with European happiness standards.
The art of idleness
Foreign visitors are expected with a separate English language section, where, among others, Duncan Moss will give them a glimpse of the art of meditation, that is, of idleness. Foreign lecturers elaborate their ideas of a given them personally or at video conferences.
Between two lectures or workshop programs, we are free to devote our time to culture at the exhibitions, movie programs, concerts and theatrical performances offered in the evenings to the audience, in themes that are mostly also organically linked to the metaphor of the labyrinth.
While we can stretch our numb legs on beanbags in the teahouse, in the Relax room we are not only offered a soul relaxing massage but can also move our body parts in a half-hour yoga session, or even listen to Szabolcs Kövi's relaxation concert.
We should not miss the book house either, where books of the experts who give presentations at the program series are available at reduced prices.
Devour the food for the spirit!
We could not find a better opportunity to quench our hunger for scientific knowledge than the three days of Pszinapszis! If, apart from this, we even actually manage to find our own path, or find our way back to it, we will not only be richer in experiences and knowledge when we leave, but can also gain a great impetus for conquering the miles ahead of us.
Tickets and three-day passes are available on the spot, at reduced prices - 2000 HUF and 5000 HUF respectively - for students and pensioners. Good news for those who arrive late in the evenings is that they are admitted to the paradise of psychology students for only 1000 HUF.
