Believe in Miracles!
29.01.2010.This could as well be the slogan of the interactive exhibition entitled 100 Miracles - The Birth of the Future, open until the 28th of February. Getting in close contact with the imaginative inventions of the future, Hungary has once again proved that even after János Neuman or Ede Teller, it can still yield researchers whose landmark inventions can be utilised on any spot of the earth.
Back to the Future!
The exhibition hosted at the 'Párisi udvar' at Ferenciek tere 10. and occupying nearly 1000 square meters seeks to answer the question of what the following 20-30 years have in store for us, and what kinds of trends will dominate among Hungarian developments aiming to preserve health and the environment, or to help us in our everyday lives.
Once we have entered through the Time Gate, nothing can keep us from scrutinising and maybe even testing these innovations for the future right away, whether they are hybrid cars run with condensed air or clothes that can be cooled or heated, or a pen that supports muscle work and helps develop writing skills. The irregular exhibition is a special event of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation, and its patron is Dr. József Pálinkás, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
From Space to the Living Room!
Easy orientation is supported by thematic rooms. In the reception chambers turned into a Space World on the first floor, we can acquaint more closely with the first Hungarian pico satellite developed by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics for educational purposes, while extraordinary vehicles run with air are exhibited in the Nature room. In the Health House on the upper floor, we can see miracles applicable in medical circles, which can be utilised in the fields of prevention and diagnostics in the future. The portable ECG, the three-dimensional microscope and the tiny instrument that can diagnose the necessity of a C section before birth, which is in the phase of development now, or the percolator that can be carried in the pocket, the enigmatic „kotyog go" are also presented in this section.
In the Living Room, inventions that make our everyday lives easier wait to be discovered: attractive paper furniture, bio bricks made from fruit stones, or the perpetually lit economical fluorescent tube. Finally, the Playhouse is undoubtedly a field of true interactivity, irrespective of age or gender. We can challenge our skills in Stellar Chess as well as an environmental game or logical games that develop stereopsis!
Take the Future in Your Hands!
A special feature of the exhibition is that some of the inventions can be bought in the 100 miracles shop right away. If we would like to sip the warming fruit coffee each morning, or if we would feel safer behind the wheel in the company of a slumber alarm wheel cover, all we need to do is buy these ingenious inventions.
And Yet There Are Miracles!
Purple corn or an already design award winning coat that can be turned into a bag? - although it is indeed difficult to choose the one that is dearest to our heart from the 100 miracles - thanks to the creative designers who were not short of ideas -, we can also vote for a favourite article on the spot. The most innovative objects will be judged by a professional jury.
Irregular Exhibition Guide
Organisers of the exhibition also thought of schools and foreign visitors. While children are guided through the rooms by developers and inventors of the exhibition who introduce to them the secrets of making the exhibited objects, foreign visitors can request English language guidance based on preliminary appointment.
