The Educatio Exhibition Has Been Organised
02.02.2010.The increasingly popular Educatio exhibition was organised for the tenth time on the 22nd and 23rd of January. Around two hundred exhibitors introduced themselves on the approximately ten thousand square meter area of the Event Centre hosting the two-day event.
Increasing interest
The yearly muster that is probably the most important one for higher education institutions as well as prospective students did not only enable universities and colleges to represent themselves: publishers of textbooks, manufacturers of educational equipment, language schools and other professional institutions and organisations were also present. Exhibitors introduced themselves at stands, but the program also included different lectures, presentations and discussions.
This year, interest was even greater than expected: a huge number of students preparing for their entrance examinations, university students orienting themselves, as well as representatives of the profession visited the exhibition. Interest is understandable on the side of secondary school students, as this is a special opportunity for them to obtain information. All the universities are available at the same location, moreover, questions may be asked of active or graduated students as well as representatives of the higher education institutions.
A national and international outlook
As Gergely Arató, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education put it in his opening speech: the Educatio exhibition does not only enable the national profession and higher education institutions to represent themselves, but an increasing number of foreign institutions are also introduced. The College of Leuven was among the institutions presented at the professional lectures going on for two days, and visitors could also learn about study opportunities in Canada.
University and college students who came to the event could obtain information on scholarship opportunities and apprenticeship programs abroad, while foreign university students studying in Hungary could also orient themselves among opportunities of further studies in Hungary. The Educatio Non-Profit Ltd. was presented on some 400 square meters, and thus anyone interested could get to know the already popular Felvi.hu and Europass.hu pages, also available in English.
The Educatio exhibition will hopefully be made more and more attractive to guest students by the increasingly substantial elements with foreign relevance added each year.
Obtaining information, orientation and entertainment
Beside the more strictly professional programs, opportunities for less formal ways of orientation and playful pastime were also offered. In a huge game called „Find your Way with a Degree" students aiming to enter a college or university could learn about student life. In the Diploma Holder Contest lasting for two days opposing teams had to find out where, at which programs certain well known public personalities obtained their degrees.
Several people sent messages to their future selves during these two days. Everyone could record a brief video message in which they told what they expected from their degrees and the years following graduation. The short films have been made available at diplomantul.hu, where their creators can check even years later whether they actually achieved what they desired in 2010.
